Many thing can be done to prevent global warming .... It depends on us how efficiently we use our resources and prevent the things.
Reducing Paper Print Outs ... like making print bank statements costs something....
Printed bills costing $2 or something ...which everyone will like to reduce.
Make the CRT monitors costly....
Paper pamphlets can cost more .... which are a certain waste....
E-Education for children .. which requires submitting assignments over mail ...

the cost of solar panels why do they cost so much? they can do som much good but only if people can afford them!

The immens diversification of both services and products led by customer desire will come to an end due to a lack of resources in the future. Within 10 years we will see that the customer loses its choice and a few companies dictate the price of products. Oil is showing us how this is working and there is not much to stop them. This can be generalised I feel across the line

Excessive use of cars in densly populated regions in developing countries should be discouraged by creating efficient and affordable mode of public transportation.
Added by karen on 17-05-2008
Given the PwC push to reduce its carbon foot print, it is diappointing that there is only a handful of cars on the firm masterlease website which use alternative fuels. There are no incentives to staff to convert cars to other more sustainable fuels e.g. bio fuels etc

Start making some proper commitments and decisions to reduce climate change and stop messing around charging people more money to travel places:
A few thoughts, if not a little on the periphery of the box:
1. Turn off all street lamps after 2am
2. Ban all plastic water bottles (sorry Nikki from BB7)
3. Remove all speed bumps and traffic lights (slowing down and speeding up is incredibly inefficient)
3. Genetically modify a tree to do better photosynthesis (suck up more CO2)

I would change the government to be as one in coalition so all the different views can be dealt with equally and change all power stations to green ways, wind, water and other green ways. These incinerators are throwing in the air together millions of tones of carbons dioxins and other cocktail effects. Deal with factory emissions and car emissions and other pollutions. Recycle is a main issue and all should be dealt with now before its too late. Its not us that have to worry, its our children. So if people say they love their children, well then do what they can for their sake. Everyone of us could make a difference, recycle as much as they can. I myself do what ever it takes - plastic, wood, glass, cans, tin, metal, garden rubbish, paper and charity shops with unwanted goods and items. All these type of things do help and if everyone did this it would be a lot better. Save the world for our families.

Stop being sheep and believing all the governmental (tax gererating) propegander about human induced global warming. Do a little reseach yourself and realise just how flawed the science used by the IPCC really is.
Start with some simple facts - the sun has been solely responsible for our climate for hundreds of millions of years, why all of a sudden in 1998 did it stop having any impact and the climate was down to driving cars and trans-atlantic flights. Dig a little deeper and the more you will realise we are being had for the finalcial gain of governments.

stop war. we live in such a amazing world, yet destuction of the earth is happeing all around. so many people live in poverty with nothing, and celebraties have all they could ever need. why do some people end up with nothing. the world need a serious change.
Added by Graham Williams on 17-11-2007
I would love to be more proactive when it comes to climate change but feel that governments, including ours, only pay lip service to the challenge. Changing light bulbs is a positive step but much more could be done in a similar vein. However, what they tend to do is to raise taxes. If time is so short what is stopping the government taking some major decisions that could help the negative climatic impact. Stop talking and start helping us help each other. Provide us with solar panels, improve public transport, remove unnecessary packaging etc, etc.

Find a way to engage with young people, but young women in particular to encourage them to join in with sport & fitness activities.
Yesterday it was reported that only 20% of women take enough exercise to maintain their health.
Are we destroying our health at the same rate we are destroying the planet?

Ex Chief economist Sir, Nicholas Stern has, in his report, warned the human beings against the horrific effects of the global warming. His report explains about the occurrence of catastrophic events, in future, like floods and droughts destroying nearly 20% material assets of the World. We are, being mortal human beings, are surprised by knowing that nothing is permanent here and even Earth will perish one day, but that might occur after billions of years from now.

Its no good everyone arguing over what is happening... Make a change insted, change the way we function for the better. Buy local produce, recycle and reduce carbon emmisions by walking and cycling everywhere when you can.

I personally think and every other person I talk to about it seems to agree, that all this talk of global warming is a load of rubbish, what would the boffins have said if they had been alive when the ice age was ending and the grand canyon and chedder gourge were carved out by the torrents of water? Its mother nature doing her thing, wo be tide those who mess with her. By the way I recycle everythig that I can and agree we should look after the planet and cut pollution, but these over paid idiots trying to frighten us into it is having the opposite effect.

people need to give up trying to blame people for glabal warming, the giant finger bearing down on you screaming its all your fault is not going to make global warming go away!!!! we need to recognise that there is a problem and take measures to rectify the situation. For example use your own initiative, leave the needless bits of plastic off your food in the supermarket, when i buy food i take off the wrapping i dont need. Carry a bag with you at all times so that you can save on a plastic bag. Never leave anything on standby, if your not using it turn it off!!!! Students should be all about saving money and a lot of greener options will actually save you monay. so think outside the box and maybe you can make a difference

Office buildings that have stairs that are accessible from the ground floor and that are not designed to require individuals to use the lifts to reach any other floor. It is often faster to use the stairs than the lifts for short journeys, more healthy and uses less energy, so helping the business towards reducing carbon emissions.

A global carbon trading system which all countries and companies abide by. They would buy and sell carbon credits from each other, creating a direct incentive to cut carbon. Over time, the total carbon allowed to be traded could be decreased, which would be more effective than blunt "green taxes" and bans on "bad" industries.

I understand that we should change and eat organic, buy locally, buy fairtrade, cycle to work, etc etc but the affordability of these products is certainly out of my price range. How can people on low incomes purchase the products in the first place on a budget with a family to feed? More should be done to make these products more affordable.

Rapid acceleration in the shift to low carbon economies all round the world, deep cuts in CO2 emissions (reducing energy use, using it more efficiently, using alternatives to fossil fuels as energy sources, using technology to catch and store CO2 before it gets into the atmosphere) and doing all of this without denying the developing world the chance to develop - these are not mutually exclusive aims
