Well Another crime commited. A government that is not fit for purpose to add to the transport system, police education, hospitals the list is endless. How dare politcians treat the taxpayers of this country with such contempt, and I do not mean the present lot that are in power, but those waiting in the wings ready to jump on this gravy train. They have no sense of morality not conscience and certainly no honour. I now understand how a people can turn to dictators and the like.

Now that smokers are forced to go outside for a cigerette it also effects those who do not smoke as in the summer we are unable to eat a restaurant meal outside as we will be affected by the smoking, there has to be another way so we do not have to be effected by smoke at all as we are being punished by choosing not to smoke.

Make all consultants and hospital doctors send all test results which they have requested back to the patients Gps so that the patients records are up to date and the doctor is fully conversant about the latest information regarding the patient. At the moment this does not happen and hundreds of patients records are not up to date.

GPs are experiencing same patients returning to them several times due to lack of specialisation in their case in the GP surgery. and the consultanta are rarely available. in the current system no one could tell consultants to work extra hours. I would suggest if GPs should be allowed to hire consultants and Equipment on case by case bases , this would save money and could be incentive for the consultants to work longer hours and efficiently without any body telling them what to do.If a certain consultantant is not good enough he would not get customers.same is the Scans and MRI. i am sure the waiting list would disappear in a short time.

Im a student in a secondary school in year 11 and i think that the new healthy meals are good, but i think the price of the meals is too high. water is a must for me everyday but a bottle costs me 80p in my canteen... whereas i can find it for half or a quater of that somewhere else. things like a slad pot can cost up to £1.70...i wouldnt mind paying that if there was a fair size of salad pot rather that a tiny thing with 10 bits of pasta a spoonful of chicken, 3 bits of lettuce and 2 bits of cucumber. A panini which is a bit of bread filled with ham and cheese costs £1.75 which i think is ridiculous really. i would like the prices to go down a bit on some things.

Executive and Management teams within the NHS should take time out from their offices to meet the front line staff in all areas. This would break down the barriers between workforce and managers and the feeling of "they sit at their desk and do not know what they are doing". If they met nurses, healthcarers, cleaners, ward housekeepers then they would be able to "nip their issues in the bud" rather than having low staff moral, no recognition nor respect for their management team. We are all humans so lets walk and communicate and break the walls that exist.

stricter comings and goings of patients whilst in our care ie patients are allowed to wonder the grounds whenever even leaving hospital site to enter parks ect this in my opinion is a infection risk not only to the individual but to other patients on the wards we also still have to endure abuse quite alot of verbal and some phyical there is not enough time concentrated on these matters . The other problem is catering for patients food there is an awful lot of waste but then alot of the time patients dont get the items ordered so they wont eat other things offered so it is thrown away staff are not allowed to eat anything that is left over whereas if the food left is edible staff offer a small sum ie 50 pence to a £1 to save waste

i believe the smoking ban is increasing binge drinking in the home, especially will the old and vunerable, its so cheap to go down the supermarket and get cheap beer wine and spirits, add the smoking ban it must be increasing the pressure on the nhs.

Im very concerned about the way they will look now as im not a very confident person and certainly dont need a dentist to make me feel im not good enough! I am a struggling single mum and a student but the difference in the 2 is completely ridiculous!

Finance better free education, free youth entertainment, improved public infrastructure and health care with increased personal and corporate UK/EU taxation. Reduce armed UK interference in foreign countries and increase focus on diplomatic and commercial incentives and sanctions. Help develop poor countries; people with something to lose in a social capitalist world have less reason to propagate extreme fundamentalist religious views. In the UK prepare mitigations for a crash/slump in the property market to avoid existing home-owners carrying the full impact, without artificially retaining inflated property prices.

The admittance of people to the system. People gaining entry to this country (whether permanent or temporary) should be charged for treatment. They should without exception have medical insurance. This is how it works for the British abroad and how it should work in this country. If medical insurance cannot be produced, then the family should be applied to, failing that, then minimum treatment given or given offer to return to their own country for treatment.

I would like dental treatment on the NHS to be more affordable. £345.00 for a porcelain crown is just too expensive to pay especially as a low income single parent. The pricing is covered by a "cosmetic treatment" clause? Since when were we born with silver teeth and then made to pay through them to be white !!

TARGETS - the hospitals are so intent on reaching targets that individual patient centered care has been lost. If the patient is unavailable for the appointment/operation/test within the target deadline they are removed from the list and the whole process has to start from the beginning. I feel this is a waste of time and money for all concerned, there should be provision within the system for an exemption when the patient has delayed treatment. This may be due to health problems, a carers obligations, bereavement etc. Why penalise the patient? Why add extra cost to the NHS? Why ultimately delay the patient receiving treatment? Targets only measure the measurable and should be used as an adjuctant not as the rule as a standard for care.

stop shorted on beds when people are ill and there should be more help when an operation is cancelled, like having to wait another 6 to 8 weeks for another operation is harsh depending on your health issue. a new date should be offered in 28 days or patients should be put on a cancelation list. seems these people studie in health but not simple things like congestions in operations and beds?

20th October 2007 NHS - I would like to change the way in which the NHS treat the elderly and their careers in the community. My father who is 84 years old in January suffered excruciating eye pain throughout the night. In the morning of the 20th October 2007 he rang his local GP who advised him to go to the casualty department of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. My father rang me and asked me if I could drive him to the hospital, which is a 40 minute journey from where we live. He advised me that the GP had told him that he would be seen quite quickly. I drove him to the door of the hospital and went to wait in the car park. I was left somewhat speechless to find that I had to wait 7 and half hours. I went to see what was keeping him, only to find him sitting in a corridor on a hard plastic chair. I realize that there is no point in complaining as no one really cares now-a-days about any one. I do however feel that Gordon Brown is talking through his hat when he talks about having cut waiting hours at NHS hospitals. After 7 and half hours my father was admitted to a ward and I was allowed to go home and feed my family. Next time I intend to call an ambulance. We did not even receive an appology or a reason for the wait.

I work in the health service as a radiographer. I have done for 30 years. I would like to see a task force set up which could go into hospitals and teach the people who manage x-ray services how to manage staff and lead properly. What demoralises staff is the lack of logical decision making, unfairness, inappropriate systems and a lack of patient focused leadership. Everyone is treading water and looking after themselves instead of being focused on the task at hand, which is caring for the sick. A management model needs to be established and adhered to. Inspected regularly by a dedicated team of experts. The model could be adapted and expanded to other departments. It is the detail of activity which determines service quality not necessarily sweeping policy changes. The success of the NHS is down to those who deliver it. They cannot deliver when poor management prevents it. Who can staff go to when they believe the managers are unable to manage effectively? It feels as if the managers conspire together to hide their incompetence. Who do they report to? Another suggestion would be to appoint in every trust a competent person that staff could complain to ,confidentially, about poor decision making and unfair treatment.

Why oh why do the cleaners in hospitals and care homes etc not use disposable cleaning materials? surely by pushing a mop or cloth around all they are doing is spreading the germs/dirt around!/ I am exasperated every time i see the news and they show footage of dusters and cloths and mops put back into buckets of water then pushed around again! When will common sense prevail? I am scared to death that a member of my famiily should be inflicted with these deadly germs.

What is happening to Britain? The British are being robbed by the government! They are nothing but legalised robbers. Where are our rights? Do we have any at all? It seems that only people living in Britain that are from another country have rights while we are the ones that are paying for everything with less & less disposable income every month, if in fact we do have any, most of us do not earn enough per month to cover the bills so have to constantly use savings or inheritance money to survive. How can this be right? I am disgusted that many of our pensioners are having to declare themselves bankrupt, when many have served for their country and worked all their lives. Why is our health service so understaffed? There are many tests etc that have been stopped in Britain due to costing too much but the British who live in other countries can still get this treatment. It is no wonder that thousands upon thousands of British are leaving this country for a better life. We too will be joining them in January 2008, we will be able to survive off our savings and retire early but if we stay in Britain we will have to get second jobs just to pay the increasing costs of our bills. There are stabbings locally daily & guncrime & in very nice areas of our country, why? why are people allowed to carry weapons? I do not mean this in a malious way but for goodness sake bring back Guy Fawkes. I could say fight for the British, but we are totally powerless and have a government that think only of themselves. Britain & the British are ruined. There is no way back. It is disgraceful.

Added by Jill Marlborough on 05-10-2007
Its very good arranging the great clean up in the hospitals but the only way to keep them clean is to go back to the old way before privatisation when the hospital had its oen cleaners who had to answer to Matron. Now two cleaners are supposed to be doing the same jobs as six cleaners did 20years ago and the hospitals were always spotless and no bacterial bugs. Also rubber gloves protect the doctors and nurses but not the patient as many do not change them between patients.

Added by Jill Marlborough on 05-10-2007
More time with Doctors/Consultants. Same to speak good English, many just do not understand what i say and I do not understand them. That the previous mentioned listen to what the patient says and acknowledge that the individual knows their own body. That they listen ie: when they do a bacterial test take note if the patient tells them they have just taken a course of antibiotics. Stop trying to write off stomach problems as Irritable bowel Syndrome. Stop losing important test results at hospitals. When seeing a consultant, see the same one at nest appoinrment instead or a different one every time. I am 65 and the GPs gave a far superior service 40 years ago. I have been suffering for 2 years and nobody listened until I sae the Practise Nurse, who takes time and listens. She took a blood sample and adnormalities showed up. I am now being referred back to the same consultant who already dismissed me as having Irritable Bowel Syndrome but never thought of taking a blood sample. I am absolutely disgusted with my GP and the Hospital. who have prolonged my suffering when it appears all I need is a course of tablets to clear the bacteria. Why my GP cannot not prescribe this on the blood results I do not know. Instead I have to wait to see a consultant who had the chance to diagnose this almost two years ago.
