Instead of speed cameras should have cameras which link to the next set of traffic lights. So speeding motorists are caught at the next set of lights. This would show that it was road speeds and not money raising that was its main aim.

Excessive use of cars in densly populated regions in developing countries should be discouraged by creating efficient and affordable mode of public transportation.

Transport System Structure of Costing. Make Travelling through Trains much Cheaper. With Increased Fuel Prices, it is still Cheaper to travel by your car than Trains. Increase the Frequency, Optimise the carriages, Shorten travel Times

Given the PwC push to reduce its carbon foot print, it is diappointing that there is only a handful of cars on the firm masterlease website which use alternative fuels. There are no incentives to staff to convert cars to other more sustainable fuels e.g. bio fuels etc

More parking for bikes
Added by KAREN HANSED on 08-05-2008
A change in the fuel allowance as it is getting very expensive to drive (with a company car) to clients. Currently I believe I did not recover all of the expenses when I travel to clients in my car. When travelling on the train the full amount is reimbursed which is several times more expensive than travelling by car.

the traffic regulations in london are a joke i cannot accept that parking in a metered bay instead of residents on my own road by mistake warrants getting towed away and being charged 300 pounds when people that attack each other after a night out or get into fights get a caution. no justice it is an absoloute disgrace.

Has anyone travelled to the South East? Why does it take 90 minutes to travel 45 miles from London to Maidstone during rush hour - I thought it was a major town in the area? Does South Eastern Trains take no iota of pride in their trains? Newspapers strewn all over seats, empty coffee cups - actually half emptied coffee cups rolling under seats. Is this old third world stock?

Probably the oldest transport system but not the best I must say. I have seen and experienced better transport system in countries with much smaller economies. TFL needs to spend some money improving the system and reduce the amount going to consultants and top bosses pockets.
Added by Anonymous on 24-01-2008
Trucks and lorries should not be allowed to overtake on motorways and dual carriageways during rush hours. This in my opinion causes two main problems:
1) the overall speed of traffic gets reduced and so allowing traffic to build up
2) causes too many people to rush into the third lane causing people to slam their brakes to allow cars through (again building up congestion)

Stop charging road tax and add the duty onto the pump price

Improved public transport. London is very effective, why is the rest of the country ignored? Lets make it cost effective, efficient, safe, and a geniune alternative to your car.

Well Another crime commited. A government that is not fit for purpose to add to the transport system, police education, hospitals the list is endless. How dare politcians treat the taxpayers of this country with such contempt, and I do not mean the present lot that are in power, but those waiting in the wings ready to jump on this gravy train. They have no sense of morality not conscience and certainly no honour. I now understand how a people can turn to dictators and the like.

I would like the DOE to change the traffic system into Belfast. I understand that bus lanes are important (you are charged a fortune to use public transport and without the lanes, you are guaranteed to be arrive), but this means the busiest roads are down to one lane in the mornings from 7.30am, but there are two lanes out (which are pretty quiet). A contra flow system like that in Cardiff would be ideal!
Added by Ravin on 28-11-2007
Please go to the upper deck of the bus if there are seats available so that others can get it the bus. Almost everyday i have this problem! There are plenty of seats on the upper deck of the bus but people still stay on the lower deck, so the driver drives off without even opening the front door.
Added by kidkrazy96 on 23-11-2007
yes there should be congestion charge
Added by Adam on 19-11-2007
Put bus lanes in the middle of the road rather than at the sides - then create a barrier between them and the normal carriageway (may just be some plastic bollards every 10 metres) to stop cars straying in. Solves instantly problem of cars parking in the bus lane and blocking buses. Works successfully in continental Europe.
Added by Scott Bailey on 14-11-2007
I would like to restrict lorries to the inside lane on motorways and dual carrage-ways - it would reduce congestion and accidents.
Added by Alex on 13-11-2007
It seems daft when buses are slowed down by parked cars. Bus routes should be wide enough for buses to be able to pass oncoming traffic. In many places it would be simple to achieve this with more double yellow lines.
Added by Fleur Melville on 13-11-2007
When will someone realise that the congestion charge just increases the rich poor divide - if you have money and a 4x4 you can afford it - if your skint and only just manage to run a car you cant afford it. The more this goes on the more the majority (who cant afford it) feel greived with the richer people and corporations that can .... more annomosity more judgement, more jealousy, more anger equals modern London Society - the divide continues.

congestion charge
i would like a system in place that if i used public transport i would accumilate points so that when i needed to use my car in the congestion zone i would get a discount. this could be monitered by my oyster card.

This country needs a good public transport system, where people are not out to make profit like they are now. Bring back the national system. Then we may all have decent travel.

More options to work locally - spending 2-3 hours a day commuting is stressful, a waste of time, and environmentally polluting. I am a university researcher, and would like to see more opportunities and funding available within regional universities, rather than current bias towards universities in London.

Simply to bring back Routemaster Buses with conductors, it is nonsense to say that Europe does not allow this as the Number 9 and 15 Heritage Routes prove that this is possible, get rid of Bendy buses that clog up London, make special arrangements for the disabled Make the transport fit London by having smaller flexible buses not great leviathons
Added by Levent hepurker on 25-10-2007
Please, Please Please Introduce national speed limits for the round-abouts.
UK has the best road system in the world, especially with its roudabouts.
Some young generation is abusing them by speeding away on the roundabouts.
Multiple lane roundabouts should not be for overtaking but to accomodate dense traffic.
this will eliminate many accidents even deaths.
by sign-posting to go around 15MPH through roundabouts will be sufficient.
lets think about bad weather conditions like thick fog and dark and rain and foreign drivers..
one more suggestion, lets keep left lane as sanctuary lane
one more;;, lets put readable speed sign rather mysterious symbols like the circle with black line through it.
please feed back if I am making sense. Thank you

THE ANSWER TO LONDONS CONGESTION CHARGE IS SIMPLE AND CHEAP AND ALL DRIVERS AGREE. - REMOVE THE NO LEFT TURN ,NO ENTRY,ONE WAY SYTEMS ON BACKSTREETS AND NO ENTRY BOLLARDS. TRAFFIC SHOULD BE DISPERSED,NOT CHANELLED ON TO HIGH ROADS WHERE NOONE GOES ANYWHERE.yOU CANNOT ACTUALLY DRIVE FROM a-B IN LONDON BECAUSE OF BLOCKED OFF ROADS.NOONE IS SAYING MAKE IT MORE DANGEROUS FOR RESIDENTS,JUST LET THE TRAFFIC BE DISPERSED.

Added by Peter Benedickter on 17-10-2007
congestion charges in London should be abolished because of the price people are paying on the train links. It would be cheaper to pay for parking than an oyster card and the Congestion charges.

I would like to see less trucks on the roads during peak travelling times, and less 4x4. Unlikely your van dirver these are the drivers who generally hold you up the narrow London roads, they use the middle for the road. The roads are narrow so the smaller the vechicle the more likely the traffic is going to move.
Added by Phil on 11-10-2007
The govenment needs to sort out the public transport system so that it is reliable and affordable for all. Until they do we will continue to use our cars despite the rising costs incurred as we have no alternative.
ps. I would love to be able to walk or cycle to work, unfortunately my daily round trip is in excess of 120 miles before I visit any of my project sites.

open the bus lanes and let the traffic flow particularly the 24 hour bus lanes. I live in SE16 where most the bus lanes are 24 hour and there is traffic all the time even through the night and early hours but there are not enough buses to warrant it.

Public Transport. Public transport is expensive and poorly run, the companys ehich own out public services run to there own agenda. they all talk about investment and improved faciltys. when it does come to them ivesting it takes years of planning and putting into practice. how can our rail network be expected to run of the trains, tracks and signals are all owned by different companys

It would be nice to help teenagers and vulnerable children in our society. We need to show more love to our neighbours and treat eatchother with respect. Also prices have to go down as it is not fair at all, for example, transport fares are far to expensive!

Bicyclists should be made to wear helmets to reduce the risk factor of irrisponsible motor vehicle drivers injuring them.
And they should be re-designed in a cooling fashionable way to encourage yout to wear them.

There should be zero tolerance to littering on buses, streets and underground. For example it is very sad to see how the Northern Line - on my way to the City - becomes a newspaper bin; and how - generally speaking- the buses and the underground system are often also used as fast food dining and dumping places.

what is the point of harping on about global warming transport pollution and the like when not one politician has grasped the nettle of over priced and inefficient public transport system. and what advice do you give the rural resident that travels miles to work by car as no public transport runs near them or at the times they start and leave work, Until all these questions are answered i will still have to use my car.
